New this school year, Spring Branch ISD now has a district-wide plan for the Remind communications platform. Remind is an additional optional communications tool available to all schools.

What is Remind?

Remind is a communication platform that helps educators reach students and families in real time. Teachers and schools can send out reminders and announcements to their classes or groups.

While many Spring Branch ISD teachers have previously used Remind under a free account, a district license will now give them access to many features such as higher character limits and auto-translation in more than 90 languages.

Things to Know

  • Spring Branch ISD uses the information in Skyward to create classes in Remind. This makes it easy for teachers and families to use this platform without worry about what classes to join.
  • All emails and text messages will only go out to the contact information we have on file in Skyward.
  • Spring Branch ISD does not require parents to download an app to their phones, however doing so will give families better options when communicating with the classroom teacher, coaches, and group leaders.

Be sure to look out for communications from your school regarding the possible use of Remind.

Congratulations to 5th grader Victor Galindo, Character Without Question recipient from Buffalo Creek Elementary!

Every year, SBISD honors students district-wide who reflect a depth of character and a caring for human beings. Students are selected for demonstrating an enduring commitment to any or all of the following character traits: honesty/integrity, responsibility/dependability, respect, perseverance/effort, courage, caring/kindness, and citizenship/civic virtue.

Victor’s counselor, Becky Zech-Stephenson, wrote, “Victor has been at BCE since Kinder. He has shown all of the above characteristics at every stage of his maturity and growing up as a student at our school. He is a well-rounded student who is liked by his peers. He uses his leadership, humor, and courage to show the other students how to live out our school's motto of the 3 Be's every day. He is a role model for his classmates and the entire student body.

As a safety Patrol, he consistently stands at his assigned post and watches over the younger students as they get breakfast and travel down the hall; offering a helping hand as needed. In his health fitness class, his awesome attitude of working hard, playing safe, showing respect and sportsmanship is genuine and a true testament that Victor deserves the Character Without Question Award.” Victor was selected for his commitment to civic virtue, respect, and responsibility.

We are excited to announce new SBISD grade level guides (PK-12) that have been developed by our Academics team to provide an overview of what your child will learn in school every nine weeks and resources to support their learning at home.

You will find strategies based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and SBISD priority standards to help you help your child meet his or her learning goals. Teams of SBISD teachers studied the TEKS and further identified the essential, or priority, standards necessary to master at each grade level.

These guides provide clear, consistent expectations for what SBISD students should be learning as we strive to prepare Every Child for his/her T-2-4 goals.
