Dear BCE Families,
I am truly honored to serve as your principal and thrilled to welcome both our returning and new families to Buffalo Creek Elementary! We are eagerly anticipating another fantastic year filled with growth and achievement.
Our school has been making remarkable strides, and I’m excited to share that in 2022, we earned a “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency. This achievement reflects the hard work of our students, teachers, and staff, who continue to excel in reading, math, and English language proficiency.
Our commitment at Buffalo Creek Elementary is to ensure that Every Child reaches their full potential through dedication and perseverance. Our exceptional faculty and staff are here to support and challenge our students, fostering a nurturing environment that sparks curiosity and a love for learning. We are dedicated to developing the Core Characteristics of a T-2-4 Ready Graduate, striving towards our shared vision of preparing our students for a bright and successful future.
We believe in the power of community and the importance of partnering with you, our valued parents. Your involvement is crucial to your child's success. We encourage you to engage with your child’s teacher, monitor their academic progress, and participate in school activities. Your support at home and attendance at school events, such as Literacy Night, Math/Science/Technology Night, and the Health Fair, are essential for reinforcing the importance of education.
Our communication with you is vital to our shared success. We will keep you informed through our school website, newsletters, phone calls, social media, and the district website. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office with any questions or concerns you may have.

With 20 years of experience in education, including roles as an early childhood teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent, I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can thrive. I look forward to a successful year with all of you!

Hola! My name is Lisbeth Bañales, and I am the Assistant Principal at Buffalo Creek Elementary.
I am so excited to support our Buffalo Creek Bisons in continuing to grow in this wonderful school community. I look forward to working with you to support our learners by fostering positive relationships and pursuing academic excellence.
I was born and raised in Venezuela where I received my bachelor’s degree in education. Later, I decided to move to the United States where I started my career in education in 2005. Back then I worked at Spring Branch ISD for 10 years as a Bilingual teacher, then moved to work in another District as an instructional Coach and as an independent consultant. I received my master’s in leadership in Bilingual education at the University of St. Thomas.
I live in Cypress, Texas with my husband, my four children and my parents. I enjoy learning new things and spending time with my family. I look forward to an awesome school year.

Dear Buffalo Creek Elementary:
It is a great privilege to be your new the Assistant Principal here at Buffalo Creek Elementary.
I have dedicated my professional career to collaborate with educators and families to improve and develop student's learning approach and academic outcomes. I believe that all children have the potential to grow and achieve at high levels, when provided with an adequate support system of both dedicated teachers and devoted parents. My purpose here at BCE is to work together so that every child can achieve academic excellence.
My journey in education began in 2004 as a fourth-grade teacher for Aldine ISD as well as a 3rd and 5th grade Dual Language teacher in HISD. All the valuable lessons I learned during this time, inspired me increase my scope and to take on the role of administrator in 2023.
On a personal note, I believe change is a constant, so I try to constantly improve and learn from my mistakes. My wonderful wife and I are blessed with two amazing boys. We love to learn new things and discover new places as we travel.
I look forward to a year full of great progress, and happy memories for our students, families, and staff. Let's have a wonderful year together at Buffalo Creek!
